Your favorite novel about a novelist....

The topic just came to me but I'm at a loss to answer my own question. For now, I'd say Nabokov's "The Real Life of Sebastian Knight." I reserve the right to change my answer after giving it more thought. :o)

    Colm Tóibín's 'The Master' is a superb novel about Henry James. It's extremely well-researched and can be read as a very accessible and unusually engrossing biography of the great American writer, but it also stands alone as a beautifully imagined novel.

      Not about novelists, but...two books about the literary trade:

      The Frog King by Adam Davies (about a guy in the publishing business)

      and

      The Archivist by Martha Cooley (a man in charge of archiving all of T.S. Elliot's letters to his lover)
